Privacy Policy
Cards For Cowboys — last updated June 2026
Cards For Cowboys is a public test version of a tabletop card game, created by
Paul & Sara Brinnel. This policy explains what limited information the website
collects and how we use it. We keep this short on purpose — we collect as little as
we can.
Who we are: Cards For Cowboys is run by Paul & Sara Brinnel, who
are the "data controllers" for any information collected here. You can reach us using
the contact details at the bottom of this page.
What we collect
-
Email address — only if you choose to sign up for launch
notifications. We store your email address and the date you signed up. Nothing else.
-
Bug reports — if you submit one, we store your message and, when a
report is sent from inside a game, basic game details (a game code, the current
act/round/phase, and card counts) to help us reproduce the problem. The bug form
does not ask for your name or email.
-
Gameplay data — to run online multiplayer games we temporarily
store the display name you type, your in-game choices, and game results. Display
names are chosen by you and need not be your real name.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not collect your real name, address,
payment information, or location.
How we use it
- Your email is used only to notify you about the Cards For Cowboys Kickstarter launch and closely related updates.
- Bug reports are used only to diagnose and fix problems.
- Gameplay data is used only to operate online games and the public game history / leaderboard.
Legal basis and how long we keep it
-
Email signups rely on your consent, which you give
by signing up and can withdraw at any time. We keep your email until you ask us to
remove it, or until the mailing list is no longer needed (e.g. after launch),
whichever comes first.
-
Bug reports and gameplay data rely on our
legitimate interest in running and fixing the game. They are kept only as long as
useful for that purpose and then deleted.
We never sell or share your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email or any other information. Data is stored
using Google Firebase, which processes and hosts it on our behalf; this means it may be
stored on Google's servers, which can be located outside your country (including the
United States). We do not share your data with anyone else except as required to
operate the site.
Your rights
You can, at any time, ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you (access);
- correct it if it's wrong (rectification);
- delete it (erasure);
- stop using it, or withdraw your consent — for the mailing list, just reply to any email we send you (or contact us) and ask to be removed;
- provide a copy of it (portability).
To make any of these requests, email us at
info@cardsforcowboys.com.
We'll respond as soon as we reasonably can. If you're in the EU/UK and believe we've
mishandled your data, you also have the right to complain to your local data-protection
authority.
Changes
Because the game is in active development, this policy may change. We'll update the
date at the top when it does.
